As I find my way into what will become my work for the foreseeable future, I’ve been talking to more marine naturalists and whale biologists. One thing that they all bring up is the importance of storytelling in conservation work. Ted Cheeseman, the Co-founder of Happywhale spoke recently about his hope that the data in HappyWhale can be a tool for making whales and their stories accessible to more people. Since I have 80 encounters with a total of 42 individuals and 5 different species posted with HappyWhale I figured I could help with that goal by sharing what I know about ‘my whales’ :) thanks to his work.
